RE: Damping chassis internally?

Yes, worthwhile tweak.

I've done this to several components. Basically I used the tap/knuckle test in a quiet room and try to address any rattles 1st. Usually this does lead to using damping tape around the joints of the top cover and the rest of the chassis. Sometimes it also leads to further disassembly to expose other joints. Then I use Damping sheets internally wherever possible on large expanses of real estate of sheet metal that might be prone to ringing. My last step is to try and address any chassis to PCB connections if feasible depending on the layout or design.

Does it make a difference? I like to think it does. Can I prove it? Hmmmmm...probably not.

At least I'm not damping each individual capacitor.

Hey there's an idea!
