An affordable option to upgrade the stock polycarbonate shells of Oyaide P/C-004 AC connectors, and any other Oyaide AC connectors for that matter is possible. Whether or not the upgrade is on par with the topline Oyaide M1/F1 is unknown to me, but the benefit is clearly obvious. Most notable with the use of a solid aluminum or a shell with carbon fiber inlay is better articulated timbrel information. This can be interpreted as higher resolution, since it certainly falls into the nature of that descriptor.
The products are on sale for $27 at this time, the lowest cost found to date that I've seen. The stock AC body/contacts are poor sounding to my ear, but the stainless steel shells with carbon fiber inlays are very effective when used with high-performance Oyaide AC connectors which fit properly into the upgraded shells.
A caveat is the strain relief features four opposing set-screws with a silicone layer for protection that should be reinforced with either thick heat shrink or another material that allows both a firm grip on the power cord, and an additional safety measure in order to avoid damage to the jacket of a power cord.
