Allen Wright in his cable cookbook had a recipe to braid the 3 wires and to use 12g solidcore wire. I made some power cords and rewired my PS audio Ultimate outlet using some 12g and then 10g THHN solidcore wire. That stuff was a pain to work with but sounded great.
From his book:
Theory:
So far we have been doing all sorts of extreme things to maximize bandwith and minimize loss-but now we are going to do all sorts of extreme things to MIMINMIZE bandwidth and increase losses, at least for energies we dont want- without introducing any power sucking components like chokes and capacitors and non linear things like varistors!
Theory, maybe:
The very large diameter solid core makes a major differentation between the required low frequencies (50/60hz) and the fast pulse/hash signals that exist on our AC lines- and this when coupled with the patern of the suggest cables has the effect of acting as a surprisingly effective filter to the unwanted junk.
The recipe is to basically braid it like a kimber PBJ cable and do be careful with AC wiring. Check it and check it and check it to make sure its all correct before plugging in
