EAR is under the wood. If you ever order from Percy it looks like he has 6.5 x 6 in. 1/4 inch thick pieces for $7.50. You could make a tripod from that to test the stuff. I'd clean it with alcohol first and not put it on any surface that you don't want discolored without using something like plastic wrap. I use it under the yellow poplar. I would suggest listening to 3/4 in. yellow poplar in comparison to whatever wood you are using. I'm not so sure the granite is helping sound wise. As to not hearing much difference with brass I'd try taking it out and listening and putting it back in. If these produce only subtle and not real important differences to you maybe the EAR wouldn't be so remarkable. Herbies Audio Lab agrees with me on the yellow poplar being good. Every wood I've tried sounds different. Yellow poplar won my contest. T456
