Hammond 193P for the AC mod - can one add resistors?

I have a few of these laying about the house so I decided to try them with the AC shunt tweak.

These are 500 mA 5Hy 26R chokes. The resistance is less than half of the recommended value.

So far, I do hear, even with these, what others have experienced, though I suspect the effect is diminished due to the low resistance.

I have ordered some of the recommended 193Ls but wonder if I attached a 15R resistor to each lead would this work or would it make a more complex filter?

Anyone have an opinion, please?

Thanks,
