Fuse question

Is anyone building amps based on LM3886 or LM4780 ICs? I ask because I am and have a fuse question. I'm using an Antek AS-3224 300VA transformer at 115 Vmains. Using the simple equation, fuse = 3 X VA/Vmains, I get 7.8A. That seems a bit high based on what I've read in other posts.

On a slightly different fuse topic, my Aragon and McCormack have a 10 or 12 A slo-blo at the IEC but also have lower amperage fast-blo fuses on the rails. So far the amps I've seen, based on the ICs I mentioned, don't have rail fuses. Why is that?
