considering a DIY amp stand; would granite or marble make good or bad choices?

Sorry; I'm in desperate need of an amp stand (currently sitting on a rug).
Not sure if granite or marble would be good choices before I order one cut from a local prefab outlet (kitchen counter top makers).

any help would be appreciated; been a while since I've visited the DIY forum; have had many great projects from here in the past..
