Magnetism

may be the last majopr audio frontier.

It has been my observation that the audio designers have long neglected the effects of magnetism, and its effects on adjacent circuitry.

I have posted in the past about my experiments with surrounding a conductive wire with a tube ( heatshrink bonded with with super glue to the original insulation) and then filling the tube with ferrofluid. winding the ferrofluid tube with a copper drain wire significantly adds to the sonic quality by reducing the electrical inductance the ferrofluid induces.

Of course there are some obvious potential drawbacks ( leakage, for one), But this addressing of the surrounding magnetic fields of a conductor convinces me that we can make significant increases in performance with existing technologies.

This comes from examining the Purist Audio cables and sort of backwards engineering their product, but also adding a slightly different twist to their design.

Again playing with mu metal and metglas has also taught me much about the nature of magnetic fields and their relative influence.

Of course YMMV
