Hi hennfarm. I discovered the Sony Playstation 1 (mdl 1001) "Playstation as Cd-player" on the diyAudio forum. Read every single post (is extremely long) and then went to http://dogbreath.de/PS1/index.html for tutorials on moddying the console.
I did all the mods with the exception of moving the ps to a external case or building the external linear ps. I hope to build the linear ps when I better understand how to do it. I also installed better RCA jacks and a male IEC connector. For just a few dollars I have a little jewel which offers up what I image some would describe as hi end sound.
If you embark on this great trip I have several suggestions:
1. Get a pair of tweezers. The SMD's are so small a pair will facilitate the removal of them when desoldering.
2. Get a illuminated magnifying lamp (lucky me I still had mine from my print spotting days); you really need it.
