I can't help you specifically, but what you describe seems more likely to be a loose wire or socket or bad switch contact. Cold bulbs, especially low voltage one's, are very shock resistant so while it's possible, it's very unlikely that you caused an actual filament failure while cleaning things up.
I'd try wiggling and tapping things... But don't fry yourself.
