I recently reactivated an old stand I previously (years ago) used for a large amp with a sub beneath. I added a shelf for the Tom Evans power supply and the lower platform is spiked directly to the floor. I did this to help keep cable runs short. The stand is massive oak (quite heavy) with the top shelf oak ply over mdf. The platforms are DIY constrained layers using metal sheet, gaterboard and mdf. Other Zothecus Z-slab platforms are also used, and the equipment and platforms sit on Herbies products.
I am considering a new two or three shelf rack using Menards 2 by 4 feet by 1-3/8 inch thick butcher block (you could take one sheet for either 2 shelves at 2 by 2 feet, or three shelves at 2 ft. by 16 inches, or one long shelf. They also have true 4 by 4 inch square solid posts that look interesting for legs...
