IME, just about any audio device tends to be a valuable thing in and of itself, with (in many cases) the only real issue being synergy and/or budget constraints. So yes, even if the AC wiring in a particular home is less than ideal, I believe an audiophile quality AC outlet for a subwoofer application is still a valid thing to consider.
