I have had feedback already concerning the insulating expanding foam, I am told that it should not have taken so many cans of foam, that maybe I had some old cans, and it didn't expand as much as it should have. If that is indeed the case then the foam from fresh cans would be too much expansion, and the foam should be of the low-expansion type if possible, in which case, it would take more cans.

Perhaps the best approach would be to buy about 6 cans, and see how far that goes, getting more if needed. I recommend several days of cure anyway, so an extra day for getting more foam would not be that bad.
