I know a lot of heavy hitters have already stepped up to the plate here, but maybe there are some simple/free things to try. You say that you're getting an unstable center image and slight sibilance on the right channel. That sounds like a possible cartridge setup issue, particularly anti-skate. Also, did you try out David's mono suggestion? Definitely handy for determining center image, as is the method in the linked post.
