FO.Q from Japan

No, "fo.q" is not the title of a new episode of "Meet the Fockers".

It is "a product applying materials developed with the support of JST(Japan Science and Technology Agency). Vibrational energy is converted to electric energy, and finally to heat energy, enabling efficient absorption." a quote from their homepage.

I spent some weeks in Japan over the summer and brought some of the latest stuff back with me. Among them some fo.q sheets that you're supposed to put on top of speakers (see link - SH21 in the product line up). My speakers are 55kg (120 pounds) each, so I was not expecting much from something weighing about 20 gramms placed on top. I intended to cut it up and wrap the slices around my speakers cables.

For two weeks they were sitting in my drawer and only got them out when a friend came around and I showed him things from Japan. We tried it together and we were both shocked how such a small thing can make such a huge difference on top of heavy speakers. Needless to say that they are still there. Everything is much more focused, transparent, and sounds faster in the positive sense. I also bought the thinner sheets which have adhesive on one side. I used them on different parts (caps, fuses, etc) and cables as suggested and everytime I hear the improvement. Over many years I've tried all sorts of tweaks, sometimes costing well over ten times of fo.q sheets, and I'd say that even in absolute terms this is one of the best and No.1 value for money in my system.
