Best Way to Lower a Ceiling?

Hello! I have a question for a tweak I want to do to my listening room dimensions.

Right now, I have a 7.5' tall, 11' wide, 17' deep listening room. According to the literature I've read, a better sized room would be obtained by lowering the height of the room to 82.5" while maintaining my 11' width. I would also need to reduce the length of the room to just over 16'. This will give me the 1:1.6:2.33 ratio that is supposed to be a good option for listening.

So... how do I remove 7.5" of height from the room? I thought about spacing some 4" thick styrofoam insulation from the existing ceiling by 3.5" Would the foam be rigid enough for the ceiling of a listening room? How 'bout using a drop ceiling?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can provide!
