RE: Emailed the plans to you...

I tried many, many variations. As a matter of fact, the only part of the filter I did not experiment with is the caps and resistor brand, and their values. Since Al did experiment in this area, I took Al's word for the quality of the Cap brand. After some digging and asking a few people that would know much better then me, the values of the caps and resistors made sense.

Without the shielding the filter is not as effective. To my ears, without the shielding, the filter produces a cleaner, but leaner presentation. The TI-Shield also helped to un-mask more information, in a way that the overall presentation was richer and more natural. I first experimented with copper, then TI-Shield per Alan's recommendation. The TI-Shield worked the best. I also tried directly wiring the Shield to the filter like Walker does, helps the performance of the filter a little, but no where as effective as wiring to earth ground.

As mentioned in the plans, I did experiment with different gauge ground wire. It seems that even in this application, the TI-Shield does require a 12ga. wire to be most effective. Here is an excerpt from the plans on page 18:

"Another option is to experiment with different gauge or combination of different gauge copper wire. In my experiments, thinner then 12ga. was less effective, and gave a leaner presentation. Thicker wire gauge then 12ga. like 10 ga. produced a thicker and darker presentation, which I noticed to mask information. I have not tried using multiple
thinner gauge wires. The ground wire used does definitely effect the performance of the HRSCF, so this is an area that can possibly be improved on."
