"Civilizing The Russian Teflon Cap" -follow up

After reading Mikes' post here and seeing the pictures of the mods. I ordered myself some caps from Gintares-KW Tubes. I was able to use the existing lead inside the capacitor to connect to my circuit. The wire is a stranded silver plated copper and the max. useable length is 1 1/4 inches. When you take off the metal case, just carefully pull out the steel pin from the center of capacitor. The silver plated wire is soldered to the alluminum outer foil and to the tip of the steel pin. Just cut it off at the tip of the steel pin. Then fill the void that the steel pin leaves inside the center of the cap. I plugged the hole up by pushing in white teflon tape. I sealed the end caps with some foam type self stick pads, then heat shrunk the cap body. Finally, sealed the junction where the end cap meets the heat shrink with crazy glue. Cleaned and pre-tinned the silver plated wire end. Stuck it down to the cap I bypassed with some sticky 'more-tite" adhesive. I must say these caps sound pretty darn good. I believe that aluminum foil is a better choice than tin foil for a film and foil teflon cap. Tin foil IMO may add a razor sharpness/crispness that would work to the detriment of the teflon film. Aluminum foil is a bit gentler sounding. In the end though, I'll probably wind up removing the teflon cap. My preference leans toward the more dimensional sounding RTX polystyrene.
