Re: Anyone used Dynamat Xtreme to damp stamped frames?

I have used what could be refered to as Roofing asphault. This stuff is a rubberised sheet with an adhesive backing that works really well on stamped speaker frames. It sticks like U would not believe as trying to removing it once applied is futile!!! Try the roofing supply houses in your neck of the woods

I have also found that 3M Windo-weld is extremely good for driver basket dampening as is Plumbers putty.

I too heard a reduction in bass response BUT that is just the elimination/reduction of the basket assembly adding it's own coloration to the sound. U might have to retune your system balance.

Interestingly, I tried to add dampening material to a very solid/thick cast frame subwoofer basket and did not like the results.
It seems as though the stamped baskets benefit the most from additional dampening.

Cheers,
