Anyone used Dynamat Xtreme to damp stamped frames?

I have a pair of Hawthorne Audio Silver Iris 15" co-axs. Xtreme seems to be a good material to damp the stamped frame, but so far even a 1" square of it on each leg of the the frame is too much.
the speaks completely disappear, a cool thing for huge OB co-axs, but the deep bass is gone + some efficiency.
I'm gonna go down to 1 cm x 1cm or less next. Any pointers???
this stuff is powerful.
Al Sekela seemed to use this often way back when. My Lovan rack is gettin it soon...
