Re: Miles of threads below and still no answer to my question!

What do they do? What question are you asking? Lots of people here have posted over time what they hear when they've tried them, and that's one way of answering that question. The other way of answering it is the kind of account of what the things do at an electrical level that would go a long way to answering your question about 'how do they do it?' Those are 2 different things but the answer that really concerns you if you're thinking of trying them is the one about what people hear because it's the audible result that is important there.

If they do produce an audible change, Bybee is within his rights in keeping the techincal info secret. Why should he encourage competitors? He's not doing anything illegal or immoral in that but it does mean that you have to take a risk if you are interested in trying them. That's your choice and you may not think the cost justifies the level of risk. If that's the case say that and no one will argue, but lack of what would constitute an acceptable scientific explanation in yours or anyone's terms doesn't prove that they don't work. Lots of things have worked while the scientific explanations were wrong. Devices using gravity worked quite well, despite the sometimes crazy explanations we had before Newton. Whether an explanation is scientifically valid or not proves nothing about whether a given device works, but it can be reassuring.

Are they snake oil? Take a look at the comments of the people who claim to have heard a difference and you don't see the same reaction from everyone. Some liked the change, some didn't like it, and some think it was pretty minor and not cost effective. That kind of variation in reaction inclines me to think that they may well do something. It can't be a matter of hearing an improvement because you want to if not everyone who hears a difference thinks it is an improvement. That's actually a positive in all the confusion to my mind and, no, I haven't heard or tried them.

You almost certainly aren't going to get an answer which satisfies you, but you can't prove anything from that apart from the fact that no-one seems to have an answer that will satisfy you. It certainly proves nothing about whether or not they do something or whether or not they're worth it.
