Tweakers' Asylum Tweaks for systems, rooms and Do It Yourself (DIY) help. FAQ. |

Some of the inmates have suggested the use of carbon fiber sleeves over interconnects and loudspeaker wires, so I ordered some sleeves from soller composites. First, I put one inch wide sleeves over my loudspeaker wires (these are two 4tc wires lightly twisted together)and I noticed a lowering of the noise. I felt that they may have softened the highs so I adjusted the tweeter controls on my VMPS 626s. On the whole, this was a nice improvement. Then I put a 3/4 inch wide sleeve on Home Grown Audio Silver Lace interconnects. The sleeve is not touching the metal parts of the connectors, though at one point I would like to experiment with grounding the sleeves to one of them. At any rate, the improvements with the interconnects are huge. The highs were both crisper and more musical. I cannot detect any downside.I hope this is of some use to others.
