I don’t have a firm grasp on vibration control theory, but my understanding with using a single piece of something that is very hard like granite, glass, etc is that it rings when struck. Conversely, going the other way with something too soft sort of muffles and dulls things. Many believe a platform that’s acoustically neutral sounding is best and seem to prefer a combination of various materials that are layered together like a sandwich.IME, vibration control is more beneficial on components that move more and would address turntables, transports, and tube stuff first. If you can discern the differences between cones, cabling, etc., your ears and stuff is off high quality! You don’t have to spend alot, there are diy alternatives like roller bearing devices, platform recipes worth reading up on.
Believe what your ears say - not hearsay.
