Dont know if it sounds better. I have both and find teh Gold/Cooper are very similar. Maybe the Gold is slightly smoother (gold is a worse conductor than copper). However the surface of the copper parts will oxidize far more rapidly than the gold plated ones so the sound will likely drift over time.
