Synergy/compatibility and some comparisons of various AC outlets & AC connectors...

So true, kenster.

I find that a palladium Oyaide AC outlet is best mated with a warm sounding, big-bottom-ended AC plug (gold Oyaide, gold or Cu Furutech, gold Wattgate, etc.). When mated with it's palladium Oyaide AC plug counterpart the result is a ruthless "naked truth", so to speak (far too lean and analytical). I also find that a gold Oyaide AC outlet does not mate well with a gold Wattgate AC plug, but fine with a gold Oyaide AC plug (and likely a palladium Oyaide AC plug), while the gold and silver Wattgate AC plugs perform very well with both the gold and silver Wattgate AC outlets.

The Furutech Cu AC outlet is very open sounding, especially in the midrange, but presents a subdued treble energy (not to be confused with rolled off) and a looser, less articulate bottom end than what Oyaide and Wattgate AC outlets provide. The Furutech Cu AC outlet performs particularly well with a Furutech Cu AC plug, and fine with bare brass AC plugs, but if a listener finds the Furutech Cu AC outlet to sound a bit too laid back, a rhodium Oyaide or rhodium Furutech AC plug (with an energetic treble and tight bottom end) can offer nice synergy with the mellow sounding Furutech Cu AC outlet.

I also find a Furutech Cu AC outlet to sound more organic and to not present a grainy top end and pinched sounding midrange as compared to a Hubbell 8300H AC outlet, and find the tonality of a silver Acme (P&S) AC outlet to sound anemic, washed out, and to present a notably less engaging gestalt than what a Furutech Cu AC outlet (and Oyaide and Wattgate AC outlets) can provide.

Furthermore, one of my power line conditioners (Vans Evers Reference Model 12) features a single, non-duplex type cryo'd AC socket that can't be swapped-out with a duplex Audio Grade AC outlet. When a gold Oyaide AC plug is connected to it, the presentation sounds a bit skewed, and presents an irritating and fatiguing top end that's not unlike what some folks report about their unsatisfactory Oyaide experiences. When a Furutech Cu AC plug is connected to it, the presentation is substantially more coherent and the top end is more pleasing to the ear.

just my 2 cents
