I conduct surge testing as part of my companies standard qualification testing.Industry standard Surge tests are Rise (A) 0 μs to -1.0 μs 0% to +20% Duration (B) 0 μs to +7μs.
This can deliver a 6000 Volt/3000Amp surge in less than 7 microseconds.
Simply put the damage is done and equipment is destroyed long before any inline breaker or fuse will blow.
