You already got the right advice - bass traps can indeed improve nulls. Bass traps actually do three things, all useful:* They increase nulls
* They reduce peaks
* They reduce modal ringingIn all cases, the more traps you have, and the larger and thicker they are, the more improvement you'll get. It's impossible to make any domestic size room perfectly flat, or reduce all modal ringing. So you simply get as many traps as you can manage. Note that there's no magic to a tube shape. Flat panel bass traps work just as well if not better. Again, what matters most is the size and thickness and how many you have.
