The best way of using this wire would be to attach the shield and negative wire to the negative terminal of the RCA plug and only the negative wire (not the shield) at the opposite RCA connector. The positive wire should be attached to the center pin at both ends. This produces a "floating shield" that better eliminates noise in the cable. Use the end that has the shield connected at the signal source and not at the receiving end. Check out the cable asylum for more details.
