If your really overdriving the inputs of the TVC preamp, U may want to reduce the CD players fixed output by installing some in-line attenuators such as those from Harrison Labs.Then again, 2 volts from the CD player should NOT be overdriving the TVC's inputs and if it is, would point to an autoformer problem.
