Re: Getting better power to our stereo's

As we don't have any details about your system, I would suggest U start at the wall and work from there.

The quality of the main system outlet(s) can have a very profound effect on ones system and using a cheap contractor grade outlet is handicapping U right off the bat.

Most UPS units R marketed for computer use and as people have found out, don't lend themselves to audio use very well. As to regeneration, there R differences between manufacturers and very few offer products with "True" AC regeneration. PS Audio does offer "Multiwave" power which is damn near a square wave and it does have merit but it does NOT lend itself well with equipment that utilizes tubes for amplification.

The other drawback of AC regeneration is the output current capacity. The newer ones on the market offer damn near 1600w output ratings BUT this is pushing the units limits and they are on the spendy side. One has to be careful as to total system current draw so as to not run into the output ceiling which will effect ALL components connected to the AC regenerator.

One could also consider using an AC regenator on the source components and an isolation or balanced power transformer on the amplifiers. In this situation, the AC regenerator would NEVER be taxed and the benefits of balanced power with the regards to the amplifiers could be fully appreciated.

Hope this helps,
