Sounds to me like there is a local RF problem - the termination of the cable can be amended to reduce this (you could also investigate winding the cable around some ferrite torroids). however, it is common for many amps to have a degree of 'self-noise' that is perceptible as hiss, very close to the speakers, but generally is inaudible at the listening position.
