Has any one reclocked or tweaked a sony cdp X3000ES?

I bought a Second hand sony cdp X3000ES. It has taken me a year to get it going. It always stopped before the last track. I sent it to Sony who kept it for 4 months and changed the laser, but no difference. I have just discovered that it is the wire loom from laser to transport mechanism that is out of alignment and gets in front of the mechanism and switches it off.

Now I have corrected this, I wonder how you get at the insides of this player (without removing the record rotator) to reclock or tweak this player (caps or whatever). I know it is not highly thought of, but I thought perhaps a reclocking would allow it to work ok as a transport.
Does any one know the clock cycle, or whatever it is called?
It probably could do with being damped from within, as the sides are quite thin, I believe.
Does anyone have any tips?
