I've been using JR's digital filter made of 2 back to back trannies with caps, Rs and R-Cs in between them on the secondaries. Works great in my system. No loss of dynamics at all. Got the desired improvement in clarity. So I"m a satisfied customer.Difference from his original design is that I use larger trannies, so I carry more current through the filter. Also use a wider array of stuff between them than the original design - nothing that isn't already noted here in the archives from discussions that I'm aware of, though, so no magic formula.
I didn't use a metal box (aluminum prefered - skip any ferrous stuff!), nor did I shield the PC. Both may have improved the design and results, so be aware of that if you make one.
Also, unless you use a fairly large set of trannies, you are NOT going to plug in more than one device - your CDP - as you then WILL limit dynamics quite noticably. These don't transfer enough current for 2 devices (say like adding your DAC) at all.
