"Thuud"

My HT speakers are making my life miserable.
Everytime I touch anywhere in the system, including the rack , an awful "thudd" comes out of all the speakers. Even touching the legs of the rack causes it. This seems to be secondary to static electricity as I touch it back immediately, no thudd comes out. 5 minutes later, if I touch- same "thuud"!
"Thudd" also even when I push a button on my remote, "thuud" when I switch it on, "thuud" when I switch it off, "thuud" for no reason while a movie is playing!
What is it, why is it, how do I get rid of it ?
Gurus ? Please!
