do discharge power supply caps leave the bleeder resistor in place if you are going to do any work on the equipment soon after as capacitors can recharge and give you a good knock after you think they have completely discharged.but dont do like ive done and forget to remove the resistor when you power-up or you will get some nice fireworks and flaming shrapnel from the exploding resistor.
