Barnum" intuition is correct. These are basic absorption panels, but they're too small to be useful at bass frequencies unless you use a lot of them. You should email them and ask if they have any hard data proving their effectiveness. Please report back what they tell you.
Also, look closely at the before and after ETF graphs they show. The response and ringing are identical - all that changed is the overall SPL level!
What does that tell you? :->)
