rewirning tonearm

I am about to rewire a Rega 700 tone arm with an Origin Live upgrade wiring harness. I have never done this before, but (and here are the famous last words) it looks pretty cut and dried. I have removed the arm from the Rega P5 plinth and it appears there is just a set screw and bushing to remove and then just pull the old wiring and thread in the new. Shoulk I attach small wires to each cartridge lead on the original wiring prior to pulling it through so I can then reconnect it to the four ends of the Origin Live harness to facilitate the 90 degree bend in the tonearm base? Any helpfull hints would be appreciated, including telling me to let a pro do it as it is harder than it looks.
Thanks in advance
