Actually, the one choke should be centered on the other one, like a "T", whith the vertical portion of the "T" representing one inductor, and the horizontal section of the "T" representing the other inductor.

Centering the one inductor on the other cancels as much of the stray field as possible, if the two chokes were oriented like an "L", with the one indiuctor all the way at one end, then there would be more leakage of one inductor into the other.

Of course, sheer distance always helps, and I do not recommend that you place the inductor that is "centered" that close to the other, it should look like a "T" that has been separated, with lots of space between the horizontal and the vertical sections (each representing an inductor).
