I was wondering if anyone was going to reply :)

Howdy

Thanks for bringing up the ringing: The knuckle rap test shows the same ringing (well the pitch changes inversely with slab size) in the marble vs. the M3 isolation bases. The volume and character of the sound is essentially identical so I don't think I'm less damped than the M3 bases.

I thought about using more Couplers between the granite and the supported items, but since that's not the way I used the M3s I chose the cheaper way out for now. Thanks for the reminder about the Nimbus like material. I've been pleased with the Nimbus pucks in the past and got a good buy on a bunch of them several years ago so they were the natural thing to try.

I have a friend coming over and if we can find the time perhaps we'll do some A/Bing. So far I don't detect any downsides, in fact I find that I'm listening more which is always a good sign. Since I moved amps from M3s on plywood to home brew on stands I'm not attributing anything solely to the changes in isolation bases.
