Try to disconnect without cutting so that it will be easy to reverse if you decide to sell. Or cut one lead of the LED and separate it so you can later resolder it again.
Never cut the LED's on the main board because sometime they are used for biasing, ala Levinson and Luxman. That's not the case with your unit though. Luxman uses LED's instead of regular diodes because they are more stable and have less noise. One of my Lux amps looks like a Christmas tree inside.
I have had quite a few components with super bright, blinding blue lights. It's obnoxious and tiring to look at. It's especially anoying in the dark. Most of the time there is a 2.2-4.7 kOhm resistor in series with the bright LED. Through trial and error I found that a 220 kOhm resistor (large value I know) was required to tame the brightness.
Krell has the brightness of their blue LED's under control, but few other manufacturers do.
