your environment is rife with low amplitude, low frequency vibration

yup, stands, shelving, equipment supports, platforms all make a dramatic difference.... however, you have to look beyond what one element of the whole system is made of and concern yourself with the resonant total... the stand is a large resonator, of mechanical, electrostatic, radio frequency, and acoustic forms of energy. Sound Mechanics makes a stand with grounding screws for RF and electrostatic draining... and it would make sense if every stand had this feature, but they don't. Every piece of equipment is radiating subtle induction hum, or capacitor vibration, and these vibrations will be transmitted to every piece of interconnecting wire and ac wire... If you hear a great stand like one of the Grand Prix Audio with their "formula" kevlar/carbon fiber composite shelving option... you will be blown out of your chair if you've been accustomed to listening to crapazoid klunker home theater products... my own thing right now is a hybrid Grand Prix Audio/Zoethecus (Zoethecus now appears to be not open for business)... because I personally really like a wooden stand sound, not as focused or incisive as a full GPA rig. but I did use the GPA cone feet with nitride bearings in place of the carpet piercing cones... the combination is so easy on the ear/brain.. you can just forget yourself and listen for hours if you have good material... so the answer isn't if there is a perfect stand, there can be a very well tuned stand the works optimally with your favorite equipment, and what you think of as "well tuned" will grow and cange as your perception matures...
