I just got an old Sansui TU-717 and the needle sticks (completely) sometimes. This seems to happen after the unit has been on for a long time (probably due to metal expanding.) I opened it up and it seems that the string has become too loose after all these years. It runs through a pulley with an adjustable screw, but it's already been turned out as far as it can go. The string is glued to the second wheel which actually controls the tuning, so I cannot remove it. I was thinking of getting a similar screw but with more thread. What's the best way to fix it?
