Slight wires crossing here! My spkrs are 91db/w NOT 83db/w and NOT ELS's either

203.129.48.171

Though I bought them instead of an available/on sale pr of black-mesh QUAD 57's, among other options!!!!! (? ask) I worked in a hi-fi shop for a while! ;-)!

Have a visit at the URL below, which hosts a number of system descriptions,

mind it isn't MY site, but I also wrote the suspension set-up steps under the Thorens section, so have a read.

I have two matching baby 'Brit-classic' stereo power amps (PP EL84M's) whose gain structure is the same, biamping the 'spheres. One is in triode-mode and t'other in pentode with 25% more filter/storage. 6 watts and 20 watts, from 20hz to 20khz thanks to the rebuild/s.

I've never been able to blow a tweeter since 6 triode watts became the limit chez nous, the tweeters are the 3rd pair, still NoS.

I think I have at least 15dbw headroom. IE 12 dbw at least plus 3dbw minimum of 'tube headroom', plus almost 7dbw, from the triode amp.

SO I shouldn't be clipping very often. We sit almost in the near field, don't listen at 'R&R musician LOUD', even with R&R music. So, except on very short peaks I can't see how I need more power.

But some soprano solos can clip.

32watts is 15dbw, 16 watts is 12dbw, 8 watts is 9 dbw, 4 watts 6dbw, 2 watts 3dbw, and 1 watt is 0 dbw.
