Hi Jeffrey, I would not change the values of the bypass caps. I did experiment with bypass caps on various amplifiers including some ASL pieces (never the 1006) and did not notice much of a difference, even with measurements on teh scope, but then again, I didn't venture far. You may or may not hear a difference. Instead, I would upgrade the quality of the cap and get rid of the cheap metal film resistors. Go with the Mills non-inductive for all the cathode positions. I like the Cerafine for bypass but there are others that people like of course. The Cerafine are cheap enough an can be picked uf for under $2 each from Wleborne.
As long as you don't change the value of the resistors, you will be fine. Changing the value of the cathode resistor could make a big difference as it is there to set the bias of that tube and could potentially cause problems within the circuit.
