the Oyaide subtracts bass. "Tighter and more true" may or may not be really more true. You would have had to have been at the original recording session to know, wouldn't you?I've heard a number of receptacles that have had tighter bass than the Hubbells and really didn't feel they sounded very natural. That is not to say that the Oyaides are not good, as the above poster (and the other inmate I had correspondence with) clearly pointed out that they tend to dig a bit more out of the recording than the Hubbell and offer more high frequency extension in particular. But the "lack of bass" may be an issue in certain systems or to certain listeners, subjective as it is, that may not be very appealing. I'm not sure that I'd be prepared to make the tradeoff, especially, as I said, at 5X the price. As I also said, that's not to say I eventually won't try one out. The information above is especially valid to me because its been confirmed by two listeners with exactly the same receptacles and the above comparison of the GX and XXX leaves me with no doubt that the GX would be the one that I would end up trying in my system with my subjective preferences.
