Too often on AA and on other forums the trashing and thrashing that masquerades as "opinion" is tolerated for too long from would be trolls. Sorry, but I see no reason someone cannot be privately cautioned that his/her posts of this/that nature are unhelpful at best and offensive at worst to the other members. That's an easy and quiet first step a moderator can take and then see if the person settles down to merely a reasonably stated contrarian viewpoint.Following that, suspension works and a moderator can control that quite well enough.
The catch with "free speech" is that, just because you CAN say it doesn't mean that you SHOULD! You are free to discuss bombs on a line getting into the plane, but you'll notice that you make eveyone else queasy and sooner or later they'll take you off the flight. How many shots you you get before they boot you? That's the only real question in my minde.
We periodically get those intolerant bullies on several of these boards. Some merely didn't get the rules right, and a note from a moderator may help. Others really do troll the Web looking for a way to hurt those doing legitimate discussion online just for kicks.
