for the Grungebuster2 CD MatBelow is an email I sent off to "Herbie" after trying out his new beta rungebuster2 cd mat:Yo Herbie,
Well, the thing works. I tried it on a really poor original recording of
Coltrane - Coltrane Plays the Blues, which I was hoping they were going
to remaster but to what effect? - The original recording is so bad,
sounds like the tape machine was going on/off speed at points and a lot
of break up in the top end. Very grainy, as they like to say.With the grungebuster2 the sound lost some of the 'grunge', i guess, and
the vibratey beginning of the song eased up and became more focused.
Now, this is with a clean CD in a decent CD player [NAD C541i]. Next the
horn came in nice and smooth with a better, blacker[?] background.Anyway, if any recording, as is, was going to be bettered then[sic] this
Coltrane CD is the test for me, which the grungemaster2 passed easily. I
even had my kids sit on the couch and test ... a sort of blind test, if
you will ... and they all agreed that the grungebuster2 made the CD
sound better.Cheers, Kudos, Slainte, etc, etc,
A Happy Customer, (and for a cynic that aint easy)
Pat O'MalleyFeel free to use this as one of your advertising blurbs - you da man,
Herbie.
=== ADDENDUM ===
I also tried it on a really damaged Springsteen CD: scratched, slightly pitted, with a black spot I just can't get off ... and it worked nice and sweet. No mistracking [or whatever digial-talk it's called] ... and less cold scattered edge; 'course the RCA 12AU7 Cleartops have a little to do this, as well. ... now the only task is to get my damaged E Street LP to sound as good as this CD
Product Weakness: Huh? for only 5 bucks at the beta price? Product Strengths: it really works, on clean unscratched CDs & damaged CDs: good news for used CD buyers
