Re: Best way to finish an aluminum chassis?

The best finish for an aluminum enclosure is Hard Coat Anodizing. It is extremely difficult for the common mortal to paint aluminum and have it adhere very long. The auotmobile people do it 24/7, but use a special primer & paint that Big Brother won't allow to have 'cause you might huhrt your wittle sewf. Search out an anodizer in your yellow pages and see if he has a minimum charge. The most durable finish I know of is Hard Coat Anodizing. However, subjecting it to temps of about 200 F for a long period, as in storing it in an attic, may cause it to take on a reddish cast.
