Fortunately you are wrong.These were actually used in a project studio and written up in Mix magazine a few years ago.
The studio had a big hole in the bass.
The tuned diaphragm absorbers fixed it.
Depending on whether the wave goes a half wave trip, of a full wave trip, causes either a peak or a dip in the response.
Fixing the pressure problem at the source will fix either.
An EQ cannot fix a problem like this because it is in the time domain.
