Describing this in terms of filter theory is perfectly valid and a lot more formal and exact than saying that "caps are more like batteries".

"Supplying DC current to the audio stages"

But (most) audio stages do NOT require DC current. They require DC voltage, in the presence of a signal-variant (AC) load current. And THAT implies a power supply with low-to-zero AC impedance.
